Set to the breathtaking marina of Port Denison, the Fisherman’s trail is both a beachfront and urban walk through the sleepy crayfishing town. This brisk 2.7 km loop starts at the Fishermen’s Lookout and Obelisk, a memorial to those shipwrecked at sea, and heads southward from Coles Way along the surfing and swimming hotspot of South Beach. At the far end of the beach you can stop by Starfish Café to refuel with a milkshake or smoothie before carrying on.

Heading back towards the town, along White Tops Road and George Street, the trail leads passed the popular Dongara Tourist Park towards the Marina. Reaching Port Leander Drive, head west along the road and bare witness to the historic remnants of days passed and admire the Old Jetty ruins. History-buffs will be pleased to discover depictions of local shipwrecks or the chance to extend the trail by heading down the aptly named Shipwreck Walk Trail.

Fisherman’s trail then loops back from William Street towards the original starting point at Fishermen’s Lookout and Obelisk. This closer trail along the mariner is home to BBQs, picnic areas, and a local favourite: Southerlys Harbour View Bar & Restaurant. Here, overlooking one of WA’s bustling fishing harbours, visitors can enjoy the perfect spot to drink up, kick back and enjoy an afternoon with family and friends.
